Three new sessions added to RDC Conference seminar schedule

Three new seminar sessions have been added to the schedule for the Retail Design & Construction Conference, which will be held Sept. 13-14 in Atlanta.

The conference, owned and produced by Exponation, will focus on the efficient and sustainable design and construction of retail projects.

Attendance at the conference is open to retail design and construction executives, architects and engineers.

The new topics are:

Talking Buildings: An Exploration of Media-Enhanced, Brand-Rich Retail Spaces. Speaker: Richard Foy, Stantec.

The New Green Code: What It Means for Retail. Speaker: The International Code Council.

Real World Results and Returns on Retail Green Design and Construction. Speaker: Michael LeFande, SBLM Architects.

Previously announced seminar topics include:

Managing Seasonal Pop-Up Stores Efficiently. Speaker: Terry Pratt, director of retail facilities at Coldwater Creek.

10 Tips on USGBC’s Volume Program. Speaker: Ken Gruskin, of Gruskin Group architects.

Retrofit vs Renovation: The Pros and Cons Presented in Two Case Studies. Speakers: Steve Starr and Leslie Povall of Tobin Starr + Partners, Eric Horsley of Brixx Wood Fired Pizza.

Quality Assurance vs Quality Control in Retail Projects. Speaker: Brian L. Hill of AEC Forensics.

The two-day conference will include two keynote speakers, roundtable discussions, multiple seminar and workshop sessions, networking receptions and exclusive events for Founding Sponsors and Advisory Board members.

The Thursday keynote speaker will be Scott Heydon, former Starbucks executive in charge of lean thinking, who will speak on Transforming Retail: Leveraging Proven Manufacturing Discipline to Enhance Competitiveness.

Conference participants will have the opportunity to earn continuing education credits from various accrediting groups. Registration fees will be affordable and discounts will be offered when more than one person from a firm registers for the event.
